Fall Program Registration Open Now!
The Introduction to Figure Skating program is intended to serve as a bridge between learn to skate and figure skating.
This program introduces skaters to the fundamentals of figure skating in a non-competitive, skill-based environment, with a strong emphasis on long-term technical development rather than immediate performance outcomes.
During the program, skaters will be introduced to:
- Fundamental figure skating technique and body awareness
- Pre-requisites for jumps and spins
- Edge quality and edge control
- Footwork, turns, and spirals
- Musical awareness, basic choreography, and performance skills
Requirements
- Confident forward skating, snowplow stop or better, forward bubbles, backwards walking, and beginner turning ability.
- All skaters are required to wear a CSA-approved hockey helmet with a full facial mask.
- All skaters must be wearing real figure skates, no plastic.
- All skaters must be fully covered (no exposed skin) and wear gloves that cover their fingers.
- It is not mandatory for snow pants and a winter jacket but it is recommended so they stay warm.
Disclaimers
- Each class is approximately 1 hour long, with a guaranteed smaller class size and adequate student to instructor ratio.
- No make up classes for the intro to figure skating class.
- A NTR staff has the right to move your child to another class if they feel the program is more appropriate for them.
This year, our summer programs will be split into two sessions:
- Session One: June 29, 2026 to August 2, 2026
- Session Two: August 3, 2026 to September 4, 2026
Families will have the option to register for either individual session OR for the entire summer.
Families who register for the full summer will receive one free week of programming. For example, if a program runs for 10 weeks, you will only pay for 9 weeks.
Each class will have a maximum of 16 skaters and approximately a 5/1 student to instructor ratio to ensure that each child is getting more reps and personalized feedback.
Please note: the cost of all classes are prorated to reflect the number of weeks remaining in the program. The prorated amount will appear when you reach the payment stage of the registration.
Fall Session One Programs start Friday, September 11, 2026, and run until Thursday, October 22, 2026.
