NTR's Learn to Skate program is designed for children 3 and up. This program is an introductory class that teaches children the fundamentals of skating. We accept students with zero experience to those who want to fine-tune their skating ability. Our coaches find repetition helps with development, especially with younger children. If possible, we recommend 2 classes per week. With less time between the classes, new material stays fresh in their minds and helps them build their skating skills quickly.

Our Learn to Play Hockey Winter Break Clinic is a great opportunity for young players to jumpstart their hockey development. Being on the ice for five consecutive days is a great opportunity for players to reinforce new skills.

Players will learn proper stride technique, stopping, controlling the puck while skating and introductory passing techniques. Each class will conclude with a 10 minute, cross-ice scrimmage.

This program will focus on fundamentals of shooting while stationary and while in stride. Players will learn how to properly transfer their weight to get more power into their shot with both forehand and backhand. Wrist shots, snap shots, backhands, and one timer will be developed in this program. Players will begin to develop these skills and will be able to execute these skills while in stride with their head up.

Different stickhandling/dekes will be taught to allow the player to get into scoring situations in a game. Developing the ability to skate with the puck at full speed and shoot while at full speed will build the skater's goal-scoring confidence.

Players will be taught basic knowledge for in-game situations, understanding when and where to shoot, or deke.

High tempo skating focusing on advanced edgework, transitional and lateral movement; both with and without pucks. Develops skils for game situations, driving to and following your shot to the net, creating time and space, escapes and puck protection.
