NTR's Learn to Skate program is designed for children 3 and up. This program is an introductory class that teaches children the basic fundamentals of skating. We accept students with zero experience to those that want to fine-tune their skating ability. Our coaches find repetition helps with development, especially with younger children. If possible, we recommend 2 classes per week. With less time between the classes, new material stays fresh in their minds, and helps them build their skating skills quicker.
- Each class is 45 minutes long, a maximum of 22 children on the ice per class and with an instructor to student ratio of 1:6. The class will consist of a group warm up in the beginning. They will then be separated into groups according to their level. After approximately 40 minutes of instruction, all the skates will come together again for a group game time and free time at the end.
- All skaters are required to wear a CSA approved hockey helmet with a full facial mask. As well they must be fully covered (no exposed skin) and wear gloves that cover their fingers. It is not mandatory for snow pants and a winter jacket but it is recommended so they stay warm.
