NTR's Learn to Skate program is designed for children ages 3+. This program is an introductory class that teaches children the fundamentals of skating. First-time skaters are welcome and encouraged to join the program!
Requirements:
- All skaters must wear a CSA-approved hockey helmet with a full facial mask.
- All skaters must be fully covered (no exposed skin) and wear gloves that cover their fingers.
- It is not mandatory for snow pants and a winter jacket but it is recommended so they stay warm.
Disclaimers:
- Each class is 45 minutes long.
- A maximum of 22 children on the ice per class, with an instructor-to-student ratio of 1:5.
- The program will consist of a full class warm-up. Followed by approximately 35 minutes of instruction in groups based on skill levels. All the skaters will come together again for a group game/free time at the end of each class.
Learn to Skate Dress Code
- Skates that have been sharpened.
- CSA-approved hockey helmet with face shield (click the link for example)
- No exposed skin is permitted. Must wear winter gloves/mitts, long sleeves, and pants.
- Knee pads and elbow pads are optional.
This year, our summer programs will be split into two sessions:
- Session One: June 29, 2026, to August 2, 2026
- Session Two: August 4, 2026, to September 4, 2026
Families will have the option to register for either individual session OR for the entire summer.
Families who register for the full summer will receive one free week of programming. For example, if a program runs for 10 weeks, you will only pay for 9 weeks.
