Winter Break Clinics

In this program, participants will be working on ensuring they are using the full length of their skating stride, making sure they have the correct posture while skating, while also improving their edge work. They will also continue to work on improving their stickhandling and puck possession skills as well.

NTR's Learn to Skate program is designed for children 3 1/2 - 7 years of age. This program is for players with limited skating experience. This program is designed to introduce or reinforce skating techniques such as forward and backward strides, stopping and turning. Players will be challenged to learn techniques for backwards and forwards crossovers, pivoting, stops and starts.

  • All skaters are required to wear a CSA approved hockey helmet with a full facial mask.

Speed, Speed, Speed. Players participating in this program can expect to see development of their skating skills. Players will be challenged daily with new agility, balance and coordination skills. Improving the players posture, cross overs, quick starts, will all be a main focus. The players will be challenged to attempt these skills with pucks; all drills will include shooting.

Players must have the basic skills and hockey knowledge in order to be able to take part in Jr Snipers & Goal Scoring. This clinic will focus on fundamentals of shooting while stationary and while in stride. Players will learn to how to properly transfer their weight to get more power into their shot with both forehand and backhand. Wrist shots, snap shots, backhands, and one timer will be developed in this program.

This Clinic is a hockey class for children who can skate proficiently and want to play hockey.  There will be continued development of skating skills, plus basic stickhandling, shooting/passing skills as well as hockey knowledge in this program.

This clinic will focus on a wide range of goaltending specific skills which will include skating, technical drills, and more. All goaltending programs are under the direction of Greg Redquest, Head Goalie Coach with Owen Sound Attack of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL).

This clinic will focus on fundamentals of shooting while stationary and while in stride. Players will begin to develop these skills and will be able to execute these skills while in stride with their head up.

 

End-to-End Defense Hockey Skills will improve a player’s overall ability to play the position. We will continue to build on and teach necessary foundational skating skills important to the game of hockey along with introducing skating skills, puck skills, tactics and strategies required of an athlete to be effective; contributing at the defense position.

This Clinic is for players who are Rep level and are looking to improve on their skills over the break. The clinic will work on skating, edge work, stickhandling, shooting, passing, and more.
